[VIDEO] How to identify the right ballast

Choosing the correct ballast for a lighting fitting can be a bit daunting. There are seven main things to look at when identifying a ballast which Guy shows us here. First thing, what lamp is it powering? Is it discharge, which includes lamps such as metal halide or SON, sodium lamps, or is it fluorescent, so that includes compact fluorescent or linear fluorescent tubes. Another point is whether its dimmable. So is the fluorescent circuit that you are working with dimmable, in which case you will need a dimmable ballast.
